物語は「監察医朝顔」のラストの翌年春から幕を開け、朝顔が母の遺体を探しに1人で東北を訪れたことによって新たな物語が紡がれていく。彼女が東日本大震災と母の死に深く向き合うさまや、前作では描けなかった東日本大震災以外の大規模災害にも相対する姿が切り取られる。。An artist (Lon Chaney Jr) is blinded by a jealous assistant/model. His fiance's father generously offers his eyes for a sight restoring operation. there's only one hitch. Chaney has to wait until after the man dies.
